Garlic knots

 Garlic Knots are prepared from pizza dough. The ingredients comprises of flour, yeast, salt, sugar, olive oil and tossed with parsley and margarine. They are delicious and irresistible knots.

   Ingredients :

2 small cups of flour 

1 tbsp yeast 

1 tsp sugar 

1 tsp salt 

1 tbsp olive oil 

 For the sauce :

1/4 cup of chopped parsley 

2-3 cloves of garlic (grated) 

4-5 tbsp margarine

1/2 tsp salt 

    Method 

Soak the yeast in 3/4 cup of  warm water. Allow to dissolve for 5-10 minutes. If the yeast did not rise, throw it away and get a good one. Preferably, use instant yeast. 

   Seive the flour in a mixing bowl, add the salt, sugar and olive oil,  mix well. Add the soaked yeast, mix and knead to form a soft dough. Cover with a kitchen cloth and keep in a warm place to rise for at least I hour. Punch the dough, to deflate the air in the dough. Sprinkle some flour on a board and drop the dough. Roll with a rolling pin and cut into thick  strips. Tie the strips into knots and arrange on a greased baking tray. Cover and allow to rise for 20 minutes. Brush the top of the knots with egg wash and bake in moderately preheated oven for 15-20 minutes. 

   Mean while, place a pan on the fire. Add the margarine, grated ginger, stir and allow the margarine to melt. Add the parsley and salt, stir and allow to cook on low heat. Remove the pan from the fire, allow to cook for a minute. Then add the knots in the garlic and toss well or brush the knots with the garlic sauce. 

  Serve warm.
