Meat Pies

    Meat pies are delicious savoury snacks prepared with minced meat, vegetables, flour, etc. 


4 small cups of flour 

1 1/2 tbsp baking powder 

1 tsp salt

1  tsp sugar 

1/4 cup melted margarine 

1 egg for glazing 

  *** Filling :

1/4 kilo minced meat 

5 potatoes (peeled & diced) 

4 peeled & diced carrots 

1 large diced onion 

2 large diced bell peppers 

1/2 tsp salt 

2 stock cubes 

1 tsp ground spicy ginger 

1 tsp crushed garlic 

1 cooking spoon oil 


Seive flour in a mixing bowl. Add salt, sugar, baking powder, melted margarine, mix well. Pour some water, mix and knead to form a soft dough. Cover with a kitchen cloth and set aside. 

   Heat some oil in a pan. Add the crushed garlic and saute for a minute. Add the minced meat, fry till the meat change its colour. Sprinkle the seasonings and spicy ginger. Stir fry for some minutes. Add the potatoes and stir fry for 4-5 minutes. Add the carrots, bell peppers and onions. Stir fry for five minutes. Remove the pan from the fire and set aside. 

  Sprinkle some flour on a board and roll the dough flat with a rolling pin. Use a cutter to cut the dough into a round shapes. Sprinkle some flour on a tray and arrange the round dough. Cover with a kitchen cloth. 

  Sprinkle some flour on the board, take one of the round dough and roll it flat again. Put it on the meat pie cutter add 2 tbsp of the filling, then fold the cutter and press a bit hard. Open it and you will discover that it has given you a nice shape. Grease the baking tray and put the meat pie on the baking tray. Do that to the rest of the round dough. Make egg wash (whisk the egg with a tbsp of water) rub on the meat pies.Then sprinkle some sesame seeds on top of the meat pies. 

   Bake in moderately preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. 

 Meat pies are ready! Enjoy the delicious meat pies.
