Homemade Burger

 Burger is a tasty snack prepared with flour, margarine, egg, minced meat, lettuce, tomatoes, etc. Can be serve as brunch. This is my first attempt of preparing the burger and I really enjoyed it. It can be served with French fries.

    Ingredients:

3 1/2 peak milk tin of flour

1 1/2 tbsp yeast 

1/4 peak milk tin of melted margarine 

1 egg

1 tsp salt 

1 tsp sugar

   Filling:

1/2 kg minced meat

1 bunch of lettuce 

4 plump tomatoes

1 sliced onion 

Salt to taste 

1 tbsp thyme

1 tbsp white pepper 

1 egg

1 tbsp chopped mint leaves

   Method 

In a medium bowl, add the yeast, sugar, 1/2 tin milk of flour and 1 medium cup of water. Stir and allow to rise for 5-10 minutes. If the mixture did not rise then the yeast is not good, just throw it away and get a good yeast. Break the egg, whisk and add into the yeast mixture, add salt, the melted margarine and stir well.  Gradually add the flour stirring, till the flour has been exhausted. Sprinkle some flour on a board and knead the dough until smooth. It shouldn't be watery, sticky or too thick. Rub some oil in the bowl and drop the dough inside. Cover with a kitchen cloth and keep in a warm place to rise for 1 hour. 

  For the filling:

Mix the minced meat with spices, salt, chopped mint leaves and egg. Flatten it with palms of your hands and arrange in a tray. Heat a non stick pan on the fire, add a little oil when hot, gently place some of the minced meat patties and fry for some minutes till brown,  flip over and fry the other side too. Repeat the same process with the other minced meat patties. Set aside. 

   Wash the lettuce leaves with some salt and water. Rinse and set aside. Wash the tomatoes and onion and slice. Set aside too. 

  Check the dough, you will discover that it has risen. Deflate the dough with your hand and knead for a minute. Shape it into rectangular shape and cut into pieces. Mould into balls and flatten them a bit. Place parchment paper in a baking tray and arrange the balls. Cover with a kitchen cloth and allow to rise for 30 minutes.  Then brush the top of the balls with egg wash and sprinkle some sesame seeds on top. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. 

   Cut each burger buns into two. Place the mixed meat patties, sliced onion, tomatoes and lettuce. Then cover with the other burger buns. 

   Your Homemade burger is ready! Enjoy!
